Much of my work considers the transient nature of human existence and flowers, being so short-lived, are a relevant metaphor for the cyclic nature of life. The daffodil, being a springtime flower is symbolic of rebirth and at the time 'Release' celebrated the end of a chapter, the beginning of a new kind of life and a new romance. The work proved to be prophetic and even more poignant when the relationship ended in suicide in the Spring three years later.
